SECTION 8. ACCESSORIES
8.1 PERSONNEL DOORS
8.1.1 Standard personnel doors shall be 3’–0” x 7’–0” x
1 3/4” manufactured from 20 gauge zinc-coated steel. All
doors shall be treated with metal prep zinc-chromate wash primer
to produce a long lasting surface.
Door surfaces shall have a leather grain texture and painted either
white or bronze. Doors shall have a pre-foamed polystyrene slab
of 1.0# test density filling
inside the door.
8.1.1.1 Reversible doors shall have 20 gauge galvanized face sheets
with top and bottom channels closed flush. The lock edge reinforcement
shall
be 16 gauge.
Each hinge reinforcement shall be 9 gauge steel minimum projection
welded in six locations.
8.1.1.2 Doors shall be beveled 1/8” in 2” on lock edge for neat fit
and security with 1/8” clearance at head, 3/32” clearance at jambs.
1/4” clearance at meeting edges of pairs and 3/4” floor
clearance.
8.1.1.3 All doors shall have field installed weather-stripping.
8.1.2 Standard door frames shall be 16 gauge zinc-coated steel,
factory pre-painted either white or bronze. All reinforcements,
clips and
anchors shall be welded
to the frame pieced at the factory.
8.1.2.1 Door frames shall be provided with 1-1/2 pair of 4 1/2” x 4 1/2” hinges
and reversible strike plates.
8.1.3 Standard lever locksets shall comply with ANSI Series 4000
Gr 2, F81 / F82. Standard mortise locksets shall comply with ANSI
A115.1
1976
Series
1000.
8.2 WINDOWS
8.2.1 Standard windows shall be horizontal slide windows, available
with either polished aluminum or bronze finish. Standard sizes
include 3’–0” x
3’–0” and 6’–0” x 3’–0”.
Glazing shall be 7/16” hermetically sealed insulated glass. Windows shall
be furnished complete with hardware and half screen. Windows shall be self-flashing
to all A&S available panels. All windows shall be certified by Architectural
Aluminum Manufacturers Association for performance requirements of ANSI / AAMA
101-85.
8.2.2 Standard Narrow Lite Accent windows shall be fabricated from
6063 alloy, T5 temper hardness. Window sizes shall include 2’ 0” x
7’–0” and
1’–0” x 7’–0”. All accent windows
shall be furnished with 1/8” tempered glass of 7/16” insulated
bronze glass. Outside trim fins are finished with all units.
8.3
GRAVITY RIDGE VENTILATORS
8.3.1 Gravity ridge ventilators shall be manufactured from zinc-aluminum
coated steel and painted white. The ventilator shall be 26 gauge
and the skirt shall
match the roof slope. Ventilators shall be equipped with standard
birdscreens and riveted end caps. Ventilators shall be 10’ long
and have a 9’ throat.
Chain operated dampers are available upon request. Twelve inch
throat ventilators are available upon request.
8.4 SKYLIGHTS
8.4.1 UL90 Roof skylight panels shall be translucent corrugated
woven roving/chopped fiberglass reinforced panels. Skylight panels
shall
be manufactured in
the same configuration as the metal roof panels. Each shall carry
the “Do Not Step” warning
label. Standard skylights shall have a burning rate of 2” per
minute or less when tested in accordance with UL R3870A. Insulated
skylights are available
in either the Vistasheen roof panel or all three available standing
seam roof systems offered by A&S Building Systems.
8.5 LOUVERS
8.5.1 Louver frames shall be 18-gauge zinc-aluminum alloy steel
available in any standard A&S color. Louver blades are to be 20 gauge available in any
standard A&S color. Standard louvers shall be self-framing and self-flashing
except when used in walls with liner panels. Louvers shall be equipped with adjustable
or fixed blades as specified. Available sizes range between 2’–0” x
2’–0” and 5’–0” x 4’–0”.
NOTE: Louvers installed in walls with liner
panels require structural framed openings.
SECTION 9. ERECTION AND INSTALLATION
9.1 The erection of the metal building and the installation of
accessories shall be performed in accordance with A&S Building
System’s erection drawings.
Erection practices shall conform to Section 6, Common Industry
Practices found in the “Low Rise Building Systems Manual,” MBMA
1986. There shall be no field modifications to any structural member
except as authorized and specified
by A&S Building Systems.
SECTION 10. BUILDING ANCHORAGE AND
FOUNDATIONS
10.1The building anchor bolts shall be designed to resist the maximum
column reactions resulting from the specified combinations of loading.
The
building manufacturer
shall specify the bolt diameter and placement. Anchor bolts will
be supplied by the contractor and NOT A&S Building Systems.
The foundation shall be adequately designed by a qualified foundation
engineer to support the building reactions
and other loads that may be imposed by the building use. The design
shall be based on the specific soil conditions of the site. A&S
Building Systems assumes NO responsibility for the integrity of
the foundation.
